Some of the biggest MCs the UK has to offer have taken a starring role in the first-ever grime movie Against All Odds. Broadcast as part of a revival of the trailblazing grime TV station Channel U, the film is directed by Femi Oyeniran and Nicky “Slimting” Walker and is set against the backdrop of an early millennium London as an up-and-coming MC attempts to make a name for himself among the burgeoning grime scene – something that is now one of the most powerful British cultural forces. In its tribute to the grassroots nature of the movement, it also re-imagines some of the defining moments in the genre’s sonic and aesthetic history, such as Lord of the Mics and Young Man Standing. Look out for guest appearances from D Double E, Ghetts, Jammer, Diesel, Maxwell D, Ozzie B and Bruza.

The soundtrack itself features original music from D Double E, TRIGGZ, Maxwell D, Capo Lee, Novelist, So Large, Bruza and Tempa T and can be streamed or bought here. Check out the trailer for Against All Odds and keep an eye out for a re-broadcast on Channel U.
