It’s time to up your ready meal game. Following the success of Breaking Bread, the team behind the smash hit of the summer are bringing you restaurant-quality meals to be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home – and all for a great cause.
Chefs Josh Eggleton of the Michelin-star eatery The Pony & Trap and Ben Harvey of the renowned Bianchis Group (think Pasta Loco, Pasta Ripiena, Bianchis and La Sorella) have devised a menu of warming winter dishes. Each meal is a portion for two and created from fresh seasonal ingredients, prepped and assembled by each of the restaurant’s acclaimed kitchen staff. With every Breaking Bread Ready Meal bought, funds go towards providing a meal to Bristolians facing food vulnerability.
In October, the organisations behind Breaking Bread – that’s the restaurants as well as Team Love and local favourites Pipe & Slippers and The Love Inn – responded to an urgent need to feed children during the school Half Term. Volunteers from Breaking Bread’s staff and the wider city community produced packed lunches and pre-pared meals that were distributed through the Feeding Bristol network.
Breaking Bread has now set up Team Canteen CIC as a social enterprise for positive change. Any profits generated from the sales of Ready Meals will go into Team Canteen to continue the free meal provision and support their work to create training opportunities for young people across the city. For every £10 meal sold, they will produce one meal that will be given to somebody living in food insecurity.
