With only 2% of rough sleepers in the UK registered to vote on the electoral home, businesses and organisations up and down the country are allowing homeless people to register their address with them so they can have their say in the upcoming election. The latest to do so is Bristol cultural institution the Arnolfini gallery and Southville’s brewery Bristol Beer Factory.
Registering to vote is often so difficult for rough sleepers as not only is the lack of address a problem but they also have to print off and post a form. If they don’t have access to a computer, this would be an impossible task. To help rough sleepers, both the Arnolfini and Bristol Beer Factory will be providing free hot drinks and registration forms in their café.
