We celebrate 25 years of Metalheadz at Love Saves The Day 2019.
Established in 1994 by drum and bass pioneers Goldie, with help from legends DJ Storm and Kemistry, the label soon became an unstoppable front liner in drum and bass music and remains so today, boasting talent such as Randall, Lenzman and Artificial Intelligence on its impressive artist roster.
In a DJ Mag interview with Storm, she recalls taking Goldie to the London nightclub Rage on the eve of its foundation: "The night Goldie really 'got it', we came back to our flat and he said 'right, I want to make this music, you’ll be the DJs, we’ll have a label and a club, we’ll make some t-shirts'. That was our dream and that dream became the Metalheadz label."

From its early inception it welcomed prolific artists such as Grooverider, Ed Rush and Optical to the family, and its regular underground club night ‘Metalheadz Sunday Sessions’ cultivated a deep long-term appreciation for the genre among D&B veterans. Alongside Goldie’s critically acclaimed album ‘Timeless’ released in 1995, DJ Kemistry and Storm strongly contributed to the scene with the release of their inspirational DJ-Kicks Mix in 1999. They were the first female duo to feature on the renowned mix series, as well as providing the first drum and bass/jungle record to the traditionally house and techno showcase platform. Their legendary mix celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
We are proud to welcome Metalheadz legends DJ Storm and Goldie to this years’ Love Saves The Day 2019 – expect a historical teaching in drum and bass from them both.
