The iconic album by Fatboy Slim, which featured tracks such as ‘Right Here, Right Now’, ‘The Rockafeller Skank’ and ‘Praise You’, turned 20 earlier this year. Despite the significant milestone, Norman Cook is still going strong 20 years on, and is of course headlining on the Saturday at Love Saves The Day.

As part of the occasion, he’ll be re-releasing the album, including a special limited edition “Meal Deal” release which is a version that’ll arrive in a pizza box.

In the midst of Bristol’s bike festival, (16th-24th September) we look at the latest bike business in Bristol.

The new rental bicycle scheme in Bristol ‘YoBike’ has unsurprisingly been a huge success; YoBikes have stated that the demand is double what they predicted. YoBike’s UK CEO Michael Qian has said “with more than 7000 downloads and 4700 active users, Bristolians have exceeded our wildest expectations.” Bristol, the pioneering city that it is, is the first city in the UK to welcome this initiative.

So if you think you can brave the infamous hills of Bristol and that you’ll be safe riding to Eastville Park for Love Saves the Day in the more summery month of May next year, why not get your quads burning and release some pre-party endorphins.

Colston Hall recently turned 150 years old.

Which marks a key event in Bristol’s rich music culture and a historic music venue has successfully raised its target of funding to repair original architecture. At Love Saves the Day, we are so excited that there is still funding being awarded that will allow venues to continue bringing world-class artists to the city and provide more opportunities for Bristol’s diverse communities to experience music. Bristol Music Trust chief executive Louise Mitchell said: “Together we are committed to leading and delivering an inspiring, wide-ranging music programme that brings benefits to every person in the city.”

Bicep Album Review

29/11/2017
Post Image
The Belfast-come-London duo, who most of you will have caught on the Just Jack stage this year at Love Saves the Day, have recently released their First album Bicep.

The final track of the LP is titled Aura, the self-proclaimed lead track in which the Bicep boys flex their Irish muscles and surface a nostalgic electronic sound, which develops into a punchy but melancholic flow. Matt describes the duo’s preferred time to play at the Panorama Bar, the space above Berlin’s notorious techno powerhouse, Berghain:

“Our favourite time to play is Sunday afternoon into evening. The light’s creeping through, people are warming into their Sunday, and you can take it a bit more eclectic and emotive.”

Just take a listen to ‘Ayr’ and you can hear that the Irish boys have infused this feeling of the time of day into this track. The fuzzy distortion and atmospheric vocals of ‘Vale’, leads the LP into a progressive ending which is more techy and lamenting than the first handful of tracks.
